A Look Back at 2004 Elections
I thought I'd take a look back at my liveblogging from two years ago on my old, now defunct blog. I spent pretty much all my time talking about the Presidential election, I didn't even care about Congressional stuff.
But I'm going to give you some of my choice quotes (since my old blog is now defunct). All times are Mountain.
On to the night...
What were your impressions on that most unholy of days?
But I'm going to give you some of my choice quotes (since my old blog is now defunct). All times are Mountain.
8:26I was starting to sense it slipping through our fingers... my jokes from earlier in the night were turning to desperation. And a few minutes later, I pretty much gave up.
BBC has 196-112. Nerves going crazy, stomach getting butterflies. NBC says 193-112, and Obama is speaking his acceptance speech on MSNBC. Kerry hasn't taken a state in a while. I know that it's all going to plan as of yet, but I'm still nervous. Bush is ahead in the polls in Florida and Ohio. Looks like Kerry will take Pennsylvania--but is it too little too late?
8:33I was going for Kerry hitting a 70-footer at the buzzer, off the glass to win, to use a basketball analogy.
Bush is going to take Florida. I'm gonna call it here even if none of the networks will: Bush ahead by 5% with 85% of the precincts reporting and the big Democratic counties are in. One of the MSNBC analysts says its the Jewish vote going to Bush from Kerry. Damn. It's over.
Assuming Bush takes Florida and Kerry takes Pennsylvania, Kerry needs Ohio AND Wisconsin or Iowa and New Mexico.
8:59From a basketball to a poker analogy! "More outs," heh. At least I can look back at this with some sort of humor. Though Bush is still our President...
It looks like it's all up to Ohio. It looks like Bush has Wisconsin. That's not good, more outs for Kerry gone.
The next morning...because somehow, I lost the 10pm-midnight posts. Oh well.I can't remember anything else good from that night except for Obama. If he runs in '08 for Pres, I can't think of anyone I'd support over him right now. He would have a very good chance at winning.
10:13 am
11 states banned gay marriage. Welcome to America, the land of the free! Mississippi shot it down with a SIX TO ONE margin. Damn. More bad news on election day. At this point, it seems like Obama in Illinois is the only good news for Democrats.
12:04Still one of the angriest/most depressing moments of my life.
Last week, I thought that seeing the interview with the losing manager in the World Series was the saddest thing I'd see all year on TV. Instead, it is Kerry giving his concession speech.
On to the night...
9:28And the next day...
No tanks in the streets yet...that's a good sign I guess. We haven't invaded a foreign country yet...that is also good.
6:55Yeah, that whole cabinet shakeup was a sham. And as for uniting the country? The only thing we are united in is our low opinion of Bush.
Bush said that there will be some changes on his cabinet and that he will work with Democrats, Republicans and Independents for domestic and foreign issues. I trust him on the cabinet thing, but I don't know about working with everyone on his domestic and foreign issues; he hasn't exactly proven himself to be a "uniter" and not a "divider" in the past four years.
6:55Ah, to be young and think a mixtape can fix things...

November 5What a difference two years make, huh?

So what do all the other countries think about the election?
What were your impressions on that most unholy of days?
